Lazio have sacked their falconer after he shared pictures of his penile implant on social media. Juan Bernabe was in charge of handling the club’s eagle mascot before their home matches.

The Spaniard, who was previously suspended by the club for making a fascist salute, went on Italian radio to talk about the implant. The 56-year-old underwent surgery in Rome to have the prosthetic penis attached on Saturday.

He subsequently posted photos of the implant on his private social media accounts. After learning that the images had gone viral, Lazio decided to end their decade-long relationship with Bernabe.

The eagle, named Olimpia, will not be present at their upcoming home matches. Fans were treated to the bird flying over the Stadio Olimpico before games.

A club statement read: “Lazio, shocked to see the photographic and video images of Mr. Juan Bernabe and to read the statements that accompanied them, announces that it has interrupted, with immediate effect, all relations with this individual, given the seriousness of his behaviour.

“The club is aware of the pain, shared by all, that the loss of the eagle in the next home games will cause to the fans, but believes that it is not possible to be associated, all of us, and especially with the historical symbol of the eagle, with a subject that, with its initiative, has made the continuation of the relationship inadmissible.”

Bernabe lost a testicle in an accident 30 years ago. He claims he has never had any sexual problems as a result of the injury but due to the implant, he is now able to “control how long the love-making with his partner will last”.

He added: “The operation does not make me a porn star, I had a health problem. The president? He is not angry about the photos – he is also a man.

“There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s an organ like many others we have. I believe it’s an option that all men should consider. Having a healthy sexuality is good for you.”
