BBC Breakfast viewers fume ‘no one is interested’ as they issue complaint about coverage

viewers issued the same complaint on Tuesday as they fumed over the news coverage.

During one segment, and Roger Johnson cut to Jayne McCubbin, who reported live from the Blackbook Tower Ballroom as its chandeliers were brought down for their annual clean.

“This happens every January, it’s in the calendar, the spring clean has to happen. But this year, it’s a bit different,” Jayne explained to viewers.

“There is a bit more jeopardy, a bit more danger, a bit more risk, a bit more, as you say, Only Fools and Horses potential for comedy and drama.”

Jayne then spoke to Operations Manager Alan Edgar, who shared how the Edwardian chandeliers are cleaned.

“It’s actually a really delicate operation. We have to be really conscious and it’s a really light dusting and cleaning of the crystals, so nothing too abrasive,” Alan excitedly told Jayne.

He went on to explain how the chandeliers are cleaned, stating they would be lowered before the central rope was changed for the first time in 50 years.

“There are four people up in the ceiling hand winching each chandelier down, which is incredible,” Alan continued.

“One of the chaps that’s up there has been there since 1986 and has done it every single year, so I’m very confident in our team we have up there.”

However, fans were less than impressed by the segment, with many questioning whether it was “newsworthy.” One fan complained: “# Breakfast running a piece on cleaning chandeliers at the Tower Ballroom. Utter banal drivel.”

“No one is interested in cleaning chandeliers # Breakfast,” another fumed while a third added: “Chandelier lights being cleaned making the news.”

“@BBCBreakfast the annual cleaning of some lights in tower ballroom is newsworthy???” a fourth viewer commented

With another similarly saying, “@BBCBreakfast, you’ll literally cover anything to avoid covering the actual news. Chandelier cleaning? For f***s actual sake, what an insult to our intelligence.”

Breakfast airs daily at 6am on One.
