Zara Tindall reveals husband Mike’s obsession that he ‘never misses opportunity to do’

Zara Tindall says husband Mike has an unusual obsession that he ‘never misses’ the chance to do whenever they go away.

It comes as and left the UK for Australia’s Golden Coast just days after spending the Christmas period with the Royal Family.

The pair have been Down Under for the Magic Millions equestrian and auction event.

Olympian Zara, 43, and former England international rugby player Mike, 46, say they consider the Gold Coast to be “home from home”. The couple even first crossed paths in Australia 22 years ago.

And while Zara has spent their time taking part in – and being declared the winner of – a horse race along the beach, Mike has been taking part in a different type of competition. Zara told HELLO! Mike took part in the Magic Millions Gold karaoke competition.

She said: “Mike was a judge and even had a sing himself – he does love a karaoke opportunity.”

It comes as videos emerged last week of showcasing his singing skills to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s track Shallow from the hit A Star Is Born.

He shared a video of himself sharing the microphone with Nicole Slater – the wife of former Australian rugby league footballer Billy Slater.

Writing on , Mike said: “What a start to @magicmillions!! #karaoke #Twighlight racing, @pacificair polo.

“Big week ahead starting with the iconic race down the beach Tuesday morning. Can’t wait!!!”

Despite being keen to get involved with the singing contest, Mike revealed he leaves the eventing to Zara.

“Being smart about leaving things to the experts is where I excel,” he told HELLO!.

The couple who have been married for 13 years, made the visit across the world without their three children – Mia, 10, Lena, six, and Lucas, three – in tow. They are both brand ambassadors for the Magic Millions auction house.

“It is believed they net £125,000 every year from the deal. The annual trip to Australia has now become a firm part of their schedule.

While their schedule is always “jam-packed” throughout the seven day equestrian event, Zara says the couple do however find time to have some downtime.

“They enjoyed a trip to Budds Beach, in what is known as the Surfers’ Paradise, and even found time for some shopping.

After leaving Australia, Zara says she will be straight back to work. She adds: “I will be competing before long. The off season suddenly doesn’t feel too long.”
