may be celebrating his birthday every April 23 but also has a reason to celebrate the special day.
As well as Louis set to celebrate his seventh birthday this year, April 23 also happens to be St George’s Day, which shares a name with his big brother.
St. George, who is believed to have been a high-ranking officer in the Roman army, was famously affiliated with the fable of protecting himself with the sign of the cross to slay a dragon and rescue a princess, according to the , circa 1275.
April 23 was chosen as St George’s Day as he died on 23 April 303 AD.
As reported by , St. George’s Day is the feast day honoring the patron saint of England and protector of the Royal Family. Although it a patriotic occasion in England, celebrations surrounding the day have waned in popularity since the late 16th century.

The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed their third child – and second son – in 2018. The couple shared his name shortly after his birth.
Having previously used ‘Louis’ as one of their eldest son’s middle names, fans could not have expected that it would be used as the first name of their youngest son.
It is believed that Kate and William opted to use ‘George’ for their first child – whose full name is George Alexander Louis – to pay homage to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s father.

Louis, whose full name is Louis Arthur Charles, pays tribute to his paternal grandfather with his second middle name.
Along with their sister, Princess Charlotte – who is Kate and William’s second child and only daughter – Louis and George currently attend Lambrook School.
The young trio have attended the school since 2022, when the family moved to Windsor from London.
