Pep Guardiola gave a stern warning to some autograph hunters
took a group of autograph hunters to task with a sweary rant and warned them not to demand his signature again in a fiery exchange.
In video footage circulating on social media, the boss appears to give a stern telling off to four men – one of whom is behind the camera and not seen.
The football enthuasists held out their shirts to be autographed by Guardiola, who appeared to recognise that they were potentially looking to make money from his signature.
While he agreed to sign the shirts, the 53-year-old issued a chilling warning to them, advising them not to turn up again in the future, before embarking on a rant questioning their life choices.
“Don’t come again, I won’t tell you again. I know your faces,” Guardiola said in the clip, which was posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Go to school to prepare yourselves, guys.
“You are kids, you are young… [points to a man] well, you are not young! You are young, guys, so don’t be here wasting your time. Do you want to live life like this? Or [live] honestly?”
When one of the older gentlemen chimed in to mention he used to be a chef, Guardiola replied: “So let’s continue to do this, eh?”
As he continued to speak, the Catalan interrupted him and became more animated, shouting: “Well then, prepare better, prepare better! F***ing hell man! This is for all the people. What are your dreams? Tell me what it is, what do you dream my friend? Go practice out there!”
Pep Guardiola’s methods of motivation can be somewhat unconventional
Guardiola’s delivery may have been unconventional, but football fans on social media praised his reaction.
One fan, @AyandaMaqhoboza, said: “Nothing wrong here. Basically telling youngsters to sort out their lives and do something more important but better. As any father would really.”
Another X user, @SlimThompy, said: “These absolute helmets. Pep is spot on.”
But @ABKTTTL17 said: “Without these lads, people wouldn’t have signed memorabilia on their own walls. I think this is just arrogant no need for the “pep” talk just walk past them if your not interested.”
Pep Guardiola was ‘complimentary’ in his bizarre conversation with Nathan Redmond
As one of the ‘s greatest coaches of all time, Guardiola’s wisdom probably shouldn’t be ignored – and his rants aren’t just reserved for fans looking for autographs.
He’s often seen giving passionate talks, not only his own players but those belonging to the opposition. Nathan Redmond once caught a bizarre earful from the eccentric tactician after City beat Southampton in December 2017.
Despite looking furious and even being grabbed by the coach, Redmond claimed Guardiola was “only very complimentary and positive” about his performance.
But even the City boss admitted he needed to control himself better and “improve” in the future after being asked to explain his comments to the FA. But he didn’t learn his lesson, giving another coaching masterclass in the same manner to Adama Traore after City beat Fulham 3-2 in October 2024.
