TV personality and animal welfare advocate Pete Wicks is set to star in a new show, For Dogs’ Sake, in collaboration with Dogs Trust, where he serves as an ambassador.

A special screening was held today at the charity’s centre in Basildon, with Wicks leading guests down the ‘red paw-pet’.

The TV star spent quality time with puppies Nigel, Pepper, and Dory, and was joined by his former Strictly partner Jowita Pryzstal who came to show her support.

Wicks expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals to people, so this show is a real passion project for me.

“With two rescue dogs of my own, animal welfare is close to my heart, and I am super excited to be teaming up with U&W for this amazing opportunity.”

The docu-series follows Wicks as he collaborates with Dogs Trust to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome vulnerable dogs. The series will air on U&W and U, providing viewers with behind-the-scenes access to Dogs Trust and exploring the individual stories of the dogs.

From the moment of rescue to the point of rehoming, Wicks will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process of the dogs on the show.

Helen Nightingale, head of factual and factual entertainment at UKTV, commented: “We’d be barking mad to turn down the opportunity to work with and witness first hand his passion for dogs and their welfare.”

“It’s a huge privilege being granted such unique access to Dogs Trust to see how the charity operates.”
