has seen his approval ratings plummet to a six-year low, according to a new poll.
The French President plunged his country into political turmoil last summer, after calling a snap election.
This followed a disastrous performance by his Renaissance Party in the European elections in June 2024.
The snap poll led to big gains for National Rally party, but ultimately resulted in a hung parliament and political chaos.

An Ipsos survey, carried out for La Tribune Dimanche newspaper, shows support for at a mere 21 percent.
This is close to its lowest point of 20 percent, recorded in December 2018 at the height of the Yellow Vest protests.
Overall, his approval ratings are down by twelve points since before his decision to go to the electorate in June.
France’s divided National Assembly has been unable to agree on a new budget, as the government struggles with a deficit of around 6 percent of GDP – twice the permitted amount.
Michel Barnier resigned in December as prime minister after his government was defeated in no-confidence motion, following bitter arguments about his budget proposals.

Francois Bayrou, the new prime minister, is trying to drum up support for his budget, with the fate of Macron’s unpopular 2023 pension reform in the spotlight in negotiations with opposition parties.
The future of France’s social security system, including retirement plans, was second on the list of concerns of those surveyed by Ipsos – ahead of immigration and the country’s soaring deficit.
Meanwhile, public support for continues to grow, as she cements her place as one of the favourites to succeed Macron as President in the 2027 elections.
The Ipsos poll showed she enjoyed a satisfaction rate of 34 percent, with her National Rally colleague Jordan Bardella just one point behind on 33 percent.
