A with £165 houses and a pleasant year-round climate is promising guaranteed work for entrepreneurs.

The push for residents in Hermisende, , is part of the Holapueblo (hello village) initiative, which aims to revitalise rural areas with low populations.

The Mayor of Hermisende, Jesús Gónzález, welcomed “hard-working” people to come and take advantage of the opportunity in the beautiful mountainous village.

Gónzález said: “We would like to welcome hard-working, responsible and initiative-oriented people, but above all, people who are involved and respectful of the environment and the families who already live in the municipality. It is an experience, it is an opportunity. Come along!”.

He added that the “beauty and charm of a rural mountain area with an unrivalled natural environment make Hermisende an ideal place to undertake a new life project”.

Rental properties start at around €200, but there is also many which could be purchased at a low price to be renovated.

Although in the past it was supported by the , today residents work in sectors such as food, hospitality, construction and rural tourism, meaning entrepreneurs could get involved in a wider range of industries.

Work opportunities also include care for the elderly, taxi services and forestry work, as the village is filled with forests of centuries-old oak and chestnut trees.

There could also be work in food processing and marketing, including chestnuts, mushrooms, wild funghi, and honey production. Tourism may also be a growing sector.

With only 248 inhabitants, it follows a pattern of towns across Zamora where residents have emigrated to bigger cities,

The mountainous village offers a peaceful way of life, situated among several charming villages in Zamora. The Tuela River runs through the valley which teems with wildlife, including Iberian wolves, roe deer and wild boar.
