Casualty fans were quick to heap praise on Indie Jankowski (portrayed by Naomi Wakszlak) as the fresh-faced student paramedic made her mark during Saturday’s episode of the medical drama.
Viewers might recall Indie from a festive episode where she initially clashed with Jan (Di Botcher) during training.
But after being inspired by an uplifting talk from Jan, the determined trainee insisted on doing her placement at Holby, which was subsequently approved.
In the latest episode (January 11), Indie embarked on her placement and was immediately thrown into a nightmare shift.
After a drive-by shooting, Indie tended to a victim who was secretly carrying a gun.

The intensity of the situation left Indie in shock, rendering her unable to give medication until Jan stepped in.
Later, the boy’s mother embraced Indie, thanking her for saving her son’s life after the shooting.
