Chef Max McCann’s homemade blueberry muffin recipe wowed his followers – and it doesn’t compromise on health or flavour
As the New Year beckons with resolutions to live healthier, one chef has whipped up a storm with his take on blueberry muffins that won’t derail your plans.
Max McCann, known as Meals with Max on has set foodies’ hearts racing with his simple yet healthy blueberry muffin .
In a video, he said: “Did you know you could make blueberry muffins at home that are healthy and taste delicious?”
He added: “And not only that, they are way lower in sugar and higher in protein than typical muffins you get at the And they’re super easy to make.”
Swapping out refined sugar for honey and using Greek yoghurt and bananas, Max’s muffins mimic the tempting texture of traditional treats.

They boast just 154 calories, 4.8 grams of protein, and ten grams of sugar each, squashing standard supermarket muffin, which contain around at 290 calories, 3.5 grams of protein and 19 grams of sugar, reports
Even beginners can easily create these at home.
The culinary sensation has swept the web with over 468,300 views, 12,300 likes and 217 comments.

Healthy Blueberry Muffins
Ingredients
- Two ripe bananas
- 80g honey
- 200g Greek yoghurt
- One tsp vanilla extract
- Two eggs
- 200g blended oats
- One tsp baking powder
- One tsp salt
- Handful of blueberries
Method
Mash the bananas in a bowl. Once they’re fully mashed, add in the honey, Greek yoghurt and vanilla.
Give it a good mix before adding in the eggs, and mix again. Then add in the oats, baking powder and salt.
Mix all the ingredients together until fully combined. Pour in the blueberries and fold them in.
Portion into ten muffin cases. Bake the muffins at 180℃ for 20 minutes.
Once cooked, allow to cool and then tuck in.
