Bonnie Tyler started singing when she was just 17 years old
Bonnie Tyler has detailed the heart-breaking moment she had a miscarriage at the age of 39. The Welsh singing icon is known for her classic soundtracks such as “Total Eclipse Of The Heart,” “Holding Out For A Hero,” and “It’s A Heartache.”
Speaking exclusively to , Bonnie shared: “I did have a miscarriage when I was 39. At that point, it just felt like the right time to have a baby.
“For the first time, I felt maternal and we stopped all precautions, and it happened straight away,” but sadly added, “But then I lost the baby, and it didn’t happen after that.”
Despite the heartache, Bonnie remains positive, saying: “It’s weird, but I count myself blessed to have known that I could be pregnant, that I have been pregnant. Robert and I were so sad when it happened, but I’m not the type to dwell on things. The following weekend I was in Paris for a TV show, then I just moved on.”
Bonnie’s heart belongs to Robert, her husband of 51 years, a property developer and ex-Olympic judoka, whom she met at the tender age of 17.
The couple chose not to have children, a decision Bonnie does not regret.

During the onset of the -19 pandemic in March 2020, the singer was far from her Swansea roots, residing in the Algarve with her husband Robert in their stunning seaside second home.
The couple relished two years of sun-soaked bliss, enjoying their pool and luxuriant lifestyle to the fullest.
While many may have found it challenging to transition back to normal life, Bonnie was eager to dive back into her music and resume touring. The pause imposed by the pandemic only reinforced her desire to continue with her career, affirming her decision against retirement.
“I started singing when I was 17 and I never thought I’d still be doing it at this age,” shares the 73 year old.

Bonnie Tyler also credited her family for keeping her feet firmly on the ground, insisting, “I could never be a diva! I’m an ordinary person. Everybody who meets me is surprised by that. They always say so. But why would it be any other way? Maybe it’s because I’m from a big Welsh family, and they would soon tell me of if I got too big for my boots.”
The ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ singer hails from a large family with three sisters, two brothersone sadly deceased and a plethora of nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, many of whom reside near her in Swansea.

Her husband is also a steadfast presence in her life, accompanying her to each performance.
“He’s marvellous. He’s at the side of the stage singing every word, and I introduce him to my fans and he often comes on and joins me. I’m very lucky that we still love each other. He’s not bad to look at either, I must say!” she confessed.
