retired from his legendary football career just over eight years ago in Los Angeles, but he and his family have remained very much in the public eye.

The hero has since tried to repeat his heroics on the pitch by turning to management, but has struggled to leave a positive mark outside of his spell with .

He had a failed year at before uprooting to Saudi Arabia to take charge of Al-Ettifaq, where he has led the team for 18 months.

And while the former England midfielder is working out in Saudi Arabia, he recently found out that his daughter is expecting her first kid with the Gerrard family set to grow. Here, Express Sport takes a look at their family life.

Daughter to welcome child with Irish mobster’s son

Byrne is the son of a jailed Irish gangster, Liam Byrne, who was arrested in Spain in 2023 and then jailed in October 2024 for five years for weapons charges. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import firearms.

Lee himself is not involved in any criminal activities. His relationship with Lilly-Ella was made official in October 2022, before their pregnancy was announced.

The 20-year-old posted a photo of her positive pregnancy test on social media with the caption: “Our little secret. The best news… mini us is on the way.”

Wife Alex Curran and family snubbing Saudi Arabia

Gerrard ditched England for Saudi Arabia in July 2023, but his wife Alex Curran and their family have instead enjoyed a life of luxury in a neighbouring country.

Rather than moving up sticks to Saudi, even though they were offered a house in the city Damman where Al-Ettifaq are based, they .

Steven, Alex and their four children opted to reside in Bahrain and although the Gulf nation is not too far away from Saudi, Gerrard does have to make the 70-minute commute to Damman each time to reach the club’s training facilities.

Huge £10k-a-month mansion in Bahrain

Gerrard is forced to split his time between Saudi and Bahrain, but upon arriving home in Hamala he is greeted by a £10,000-a-month luxury villa which features a swimming pool and a games room, according to the .

They are positioned within the vicinity of members of Bahrain’s royal family and also frequent the Ritz’s open-air bar, where football is shown and Gerrard can keep up to date with his beloved .

Steven and Alex’s , considered in the world’s top 100, with fees coming close to £11,000 per child.

The family are also said to visit Bahrain Rugby Club, Manama’s World Trade Centre and a waterfront shopping centre called the Avenues.
