promised fans he is “not finished yet” in a statement shared on his 80th birthday. The legendary rocker took to with a heartwarming post, thanking his loyal fans for supporting him over his six-decade career.

He wrote in view of his 1.5 million followers on Friday (January 10): “May I take this opportunity on my 80th birthday to personally express my gratitude and thanks to all my loyal and rowdy fans all over the world, for helping give me such a wonderful life!

“In return I hope I’ve given you some memorable songs and lively concerts and…I’ve not finished yet.”

The Maggie May hitmaker shows no signs of slowing down and insisted in November that he has “no desire to retire”.

However, he announced that large-scale world tours are now off the cards.

The rocker said on social media: “I can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79. I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy.

“But then again, I may not…”

Fans can look forward to catching the star in the celebrated ‘legends’ slot at this approaching summer. He will also perform with Billy Joel at New York’s Yankee Stadium and return to Las Vegas for an encore residency at Caesars Palace.

Last year, Sir Rod had to cancel a trio of performances in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Lincoln in California following a concerning health scare.

The chart-topping superstar was struck down with strep throat, closely followed by a positive test.

Hours before what was to be his 200th show in Las Vegas, Sir Rod shared his health issues with fans. Disheartened at the cancellation, he remarked: “I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration. Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted.

“I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”

Rod’s wife Penny shared a touching tribute to her husband of 18 years on his birthday. She wrote: “Happy birthday my darling. So blessed to be sharing this day together with all our kids. Building more memories to carry with us into the future and to be held close to our hearts forever, I love you xx.”

Rod and his family are currently enjoying a 10-day holiday onboard a $150 million superyacht in Barbados.

The music icon has eight children with five different women. He is a father to four daughters: Sarah, 60, Kimberly, 45, Ruby, 37, and Renee, 32, and four sons: Sean, 44, Liam, 30, Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 13.
