Good Morning Britain had a new face at the helm this morning – and fans were delighted. Newsreader , who is best known for presenting , stepped in to host alongside regular host .

Normally on a Friday, Kate co-stars with either Lingo star or Robert Rinder. However, there was no mention of either of them today as Paul stepped in – with ITV failing to explain why the presenter switch up had happened.

Paul was clearly made up with the opportunity as he posted to his social media accounts ahead of the show, letting fans at home know of the changes.

Posting a selfie from behind the scenes, the host wrote on X/Twitter: ” One minute to go @kategarraway !! @GMB.”

Fans commented, clearly excited for the update – with some making the same demand. Many hoped that Paul would become a more regular instalment on the ITV show.

One viewer wrote: “Always enjoy watching you present #gmb with Kate this pairing is such a good idea by bosses at itv we need to see more of you on gmb. You’re a breath of fresh air friendly professional give excellent interviews. Come on ITV give Paul more slots and get rid of the dead wood.”

Another echoed: “Good to see Good Morning Britain have given us Paul Brand this morning. The ONLY good male presenter you actually have on your rota. #gmb.”

While a third added: “Morning Paul good to see you on with Kate Garraway.”

One more criticised regular host Adil Ray, comparing the two, saying: “You are in a different league to @adilray who is inappropriate at times nor a real journalist. Get rid of @richardm56 too whose past his sell by date. I turn #gmb off when he’s presenting. He makes my skin crawl with his vile remarks and comments to his colleagues and guests.”

Don’t miss… [REACTION] [UPDATE]

Paul first stepped in as guest presenter on Good Morning Britain back in August 2022. Before that he also presented politics segments on the show.

The shake up comes as Adil Ray was recently over . On January 2, the GMB host began to say something he felt “might not be very popular.”

He continued: “I’m a little bit worried about Littler. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.”

The presenter suggested Luke’s parents should be concerned about his weight, adding: “Look at him! He’s admitting to having pizzas before a match. I’d be a bit worried.”

The comments sparked fury amongst viewers who accused the ITV star of “fat shaming” the teenager.
