LA’s Kenneth Fire in West Hollywood Hills investigated as arson as one person arrested

An individual has been as the Kenneth Fire in West Hills is under investigation for arson. Los Angeles Police responded to an area 21700 block of Ybarra Road in Woodland Hills at around 4:30pm on Thursday to reports of a man attempting to start a fire,

Resident who were in the area at the time spotted the would-be arsonist and aided in helping officers detain him, reports Police have not revealed the identity of the suspect and have not said if he is directly responsible for any of the fires currently burning in the Los Angeles area, but have confirmed the Kenneth is being investigated as an act of arson, according to LAPD.

The Kenneth Fire started around 2pm on Thursday afternoon in an area of dry brush in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space just north of the 101 Freeway. The fire quickly spread to burn over 600 acres by 6pm, according to CALFire.

No further details were released on the arson investigation but Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman told NewsNation if the fire did turn out to be caused by arson “Justice will be swift. It will be firm, and the maximum punishment will be sought,” Hochman said.
