Tottenham’s injury woes worsened on Wednesday night as Rodrigo Bentancur was stretchered off during their League Cup clash against .
Speaking on Sky Sports’ commentary, Alan Smith said: “There’s a lot of concern there. Bentancur went for the diving header, nobody challenged him I don’t think. I think he just fell awkwardly.”
The medical team were quick to tend to his needs, with the stretcher following shortly behind them.
Lead commentator Rob Hawthorne added: “Yeah, I think he stooped low to try and get his head on the ball and possibly ended up crashing into the ground and landing on his head which is a concern that Spurs could do without.”
