Ben Hillman left A Place in the Sun viewers worried during Wednesday’s episode as he faced difficulty satisfying property seekers Deb and Steve. The retiring couple were hunting for their dream home in Roquetas de Mar, Almeria Province.
However, Ben found it challenging to meet their expectations. Deb was quick to express her dislike for the first holiday home, leading to an abrupt end to the viewing.
Priced at £150,000, the townhouse failed to impress Deb even before she entered it, and the surrounding area did not meet her approval. The viewing didn’t improve, and the couple decided against the property before completing the tour.
“I don’t like it,” Deb declared, prompting a disappointed sigh from Ben. She continued: “There is not enough natural light in here. It needs too much doing, and I don’t like the outside or the lounge.”
With the viewing cut short, a disheartened Ben confessed: “We haven’t got off to the best start,” reports .
Don’t miss…
Deb and Steve seemed difficult to please
The situation didn’t get any better, with the couple dismissing the first four properties shown by Ben.
After the fourth viewing, Ben humorously remarked: “I am just going to go and have a little weep.”
All hopes were pinned on the fifth property, which initially seemed to appeal to the couple. However, Deb soon expressed doubts about the red kitchen.
The house-hunting episode left viewers feeling sympathetic towards Ben as he struggled to find a property that met the couple’s expectations. The townhouse they viewed felt too “overlooked,” leading them to dismiss it and leaving Ben with no potential options for the pair.
Ben failed to impress his buyers
Fans of the show expressed their concern for Ben on social media as the episode unfolded, fearing he had not succeeded in satisfying the house hunters’ desires.
One viewer empathised: “Oh, poor Ben. Has anyone checked on him? #aplaceinthesun.”
Another shared their apprehension: “I’m worried for Ben’s safety #aplaceinthesun.”
A third remarked on the tense atmosphere: “Ben’s seriously misreading the room. She’s gonna go mental soon #aplaceinthesun.”
Amidst the concern, there was also room for humour, with one person quipping: “What if Ben’s sat in the middle seat on flight back #aplaceinthesun.”
At the conclusion of the episode, despite Deb and Steve’s decision to keep looking for the perfect home, some viewers were less than impressed, feeling that they had “wasted” Ben’s time by not making an offer on any properties.
Comments on social media reflected this frustration, with tweets like: “Ben waving off timewaster Debs at the airport,” and another adding to the chorus of support for the presenter: “Poor Ben! #aplaceinthesun.”
