The updated full-size SUV gets a new eight-seat configuration, as well as hybrid-powerplant variants and a sixth trim level
- For 2025, the Toyota Grand Highlander will come in six trims with three powertrain options
- There’s also a new eight-passenger seating configuration for the Hybrid Limited trim
- Pricing starts at $50,860, with new exterior colours among the additions for 2025
The Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited now offers an eight-passenger configuration, joining the existing seven-passenger layout. Additional enhancements include updated styling, advanced technology, and safety features across all trims. Two new exterior colours, Cement and Heavy Metal, are available for select trims.
The 2025 Grand Highlander lineup offers three powertrain choices. The base 2.4-litre turbocharged gasoline engine delivers 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid models feature a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, producing 243 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. These hybrids also offer a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds.
The Hybrid Platinum model showcases the Hybrid MAX system for those seeking enhanced performance. It pairs a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, delivering 362 horsepower, 400 lb-ft of torque, and a 5,000-pound towing capacity.
All-wheel-drive and three driving modes—Sport, Eco, and Normal—are standard across all variants.
Toyota says the Grand Highlander is all about comfort. It has spacious seating across three rows, including a third-row seat designed for adults. With all seats folded, the cargo capacity expands to 2,761 litres. Even with a full passenger load, it can accommodate seven carry-on suitcases behind the third row.
Interior features include heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless charging as standard. Upper trims, such as the Limited and Hybrid Platinum, add cooled seats, panoramic moonroofs, and JBL premium audio systems.
The trim lineup for 2025 includes:
- Grand Highlander XLE (starting at $50,860)
- Grand Highlander Limited (starting at $57,995)
- Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE (starting at $54,160)
- Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited (starting at $61,495)
- Grand Highlander Hybrid Platinum (starting at $65,755)
All models include the Toyota Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The infotainment system also features Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect capabilities.
The standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 offers many safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Higher trims offer Traffic Jam Assist, head-up displays, and panoramic view monitors.
