Call the Midwife is back on BBC One with season 14 and in the debut episode, Nancy Corrigan (played by Megan Cusack) got engaged to her new love, Roger (Conor O’Donnell). She had trouble winning over his mother, who was less than impressed with their religious differences.

At the end of the episode, she announced she was temporarily leaving Poplar to take up a job at Netherditch hospital. Feeling it was the right step for her and daughter Colette (Francesca Fullilove), she couldn’t help but be excited.

Roger was equally as enthused as the location was closer to him, albeit until they eventually get married back in Poplar. the series for good, and thankfully, this does not appear to be the case.

Nancy confirmed this when she told her friends at Nonnatus House that the wedding would be in Poplar, referring to it as her “home”. With this in mind, it appears Nancy’s departure from Poplar is only temporary.

Actress Meghan Cusack told press before the series started airing that she is not leaving for good just yet. She explained: “Just because she’s fallen in love, she’s not leaving us.
