has unveiled its most popular combination for 2024 – sparking a mix of shock, disbelief and laughter from customers across the UK.
The supermarket giant’s annual Clubcard Unpacked report provides a personalised shopping summary to more than 18 million Clubcard members.
And the data revealed that the new top-choice combination for a Meal Deal includes the Tesco Chicken Club Sandwich and Coca-Cola 500ml.
However, it was the snack option that had fingers pointing with taking to to wonder what sort of “psychos” where buying this particular snack.
The Egg Protein Pot emerged as the nation’s favourite snack and its newfound popularity left many shoppers baffled, with some downright horrified.

The unexpected rise of the egg pot over traditional snacks like crisps, nuts, or chocolate led to an outpouring of reactions online.
Social media platforms were quickly flooded with humorous takes on the results.
“What psycho is walking around and thinks, ‘Hmm, could go for egg in a pot right now.’” one baffled commenter wrote.
While another wondered: “Egg! Over crisps or chocolate??”
Another Meal Deal lover said: “The fact that the most popular Tesco meal deal combination last year contains an egg pot has made me incredibly angry. We live in a country full of freaks.”
But the egg defenders soon came to the scene to justify the much-maligned snack.
One fitness enthusiast admitted: “Shameful and absolutely never when I’m in public, but tbh the egg is a guilty pleasure, especially when frequenting the gym.”

Another shopper suggested the egg pot’s popularity could be due to how the results were calculated: “I suspect that the most popular side in a Meal Deal is not egg, but crisps, but each type of crisp is measured as a separate thing.
“There’s like 20 different crisps and only one egg pot, so egg is deemed most popular. If you lumped all crisps together, it would beat egg.”
The new top combination marks a major shift from previous years, where the top pick was far less offensive.
For the past two years, the reigning Meal Deal champion included the Tesco Sausage Bacon & Egg Triple sandwich, McCoy’s Flame Grilled Steak Grab Bag crisps, and Coca-Cola.
