Pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run Maserati crash in Surrey

The people in the high-powered sports sedan fled the scene on foot after crashing, say Surrey police

Two people were injured — one of them a pedestrian who needed “life-saving care” from first responders — when a Maserati crashed into parked cars Saturday night in Surrey.

At about 10:15 p.m., the Surrey Police Service and firefighters were called to a collision in the area of 75th Avenue and 124th Street in Newton.

Surrey Fire Service personnel got there first and “provided life-saving care to a seriously injured male pedestrian,” said police spokesman Ian MacDonald in a statement early Sunday.

MacDonald said it appears the man was standing between vehicles when a Maserati headed east on 75th Avenue hit several parked cars. A second person who was inside a parked vehicle was less seriously injured but was also taken to hospital.

The people in the Maserati fled on foot and police were in the area for hours overnight investigating.
