Max George suffers another devastating blow as he recovers from heart surgery

The Wanted star, Max George, has been , which has led to a temporary separation from his girlfriend, Maisie Smith.

The 36-year-old was before Christmas due to a heart irregularity and underwent a procedure to have a pacemaker fitted.

Following successful surgery, Max returned home and was cared for by his devoted partner, star Maisie, 23.

However, their time together is interrupted as Maisie must fulfil her acting duties in a pantomime in Canterbury, leaving Max to recover without her.

As a result: “Max’s mum decided to move in with him for a bit to make sure he is OK and look after him,” an insider revealed to .

“It’s been a really difficult time, and it’s just unfortunate that Maisie still has work commitments.”

As the year 2024 drew to a close, Max reflected on his challenging year with a heartfelt post featuring a collection of personal photos, including stage performances, his surgery scar, moments with Maisie, and a hospital bed snapshot.

In his poignant message, the singer expressed gratitude for his life, as he reflected on the past year and eagerness for the future, despite any obstacles that may arise.

He wrote: “2024.. Certainly a year I won’t forget! So lucky to have the life that I have. I can’t wait for the next chapter, no matter what challenges lie ahead.

“I wish everyone an amazing night tonight.. and that 2025 brings you good health and the best year!” reports .

While in hospital, Max revealed to his followers that he had a “block” in his heart and underwent an operation lasting approximately two and a half hours.

He posted a picture displaying a scar on his collarbone, situated just below a tattoo commemorating the birth date of his late bandmate, Tom Parker.

Announcing his pacemaker last month, Max penned: “Say hello to my little friend! Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for. Pacemaker is in.”

He added: “Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them. The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after.

“Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that’ll be easy work! Time to rest and then tackle life full on once again. Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family.”
