Luke Littler will bag himself a whopping £500,000 payday if he beats Michael van Gerwen in the final tonight (Friday). The 17-year-old has continued his meteoric rise since reaching the final of the same tournament in his debut appearance exactly a year ago, where he to Luke Humphries.

The darting wonderkid won his maiden World Series of Darts Finals title in Amsterdam in September. He recovered from losing the two opening legs before comfortably beating Michael Smith 11-4.

Littler had also disposed of home favourite Van Gerwen 11-4 in the semis, leading him to a deserved £80,000 prize fund. The Englishman confidently replied after being asked if he’s currently the best player in the world: “Probably over this weekend.”

Grand Slam of Darts – £150,000

Carrying on his historic year, Littler claimed the first TV-ranked major title triumph of his career in November. He lifted the Grand Slam of Darts trophy in Wolverhampton, sealing a £150,000 jackpot after storming to a 16-3 victory over Martin Lukeman.

The teenager’s other impressive money spinners in the past year have included the UK Open (£15,000), World Matchplay (£10,000) and World Grand Prix (£7,500), meaning he has now comfortably cleared the £1,000,000 mark.
