believes he has ‘all of the tools he needs’ to fight for the Drivers’ Championship crown in 2025, leaving chief in an awkward position heading into his team’s Constructors’ Championship title defence.

Piastri demonstrated relentless consistency during his sophomore season, becoming just the fourth driver in history – after , Michael Schumacher and – to complete every single lap in a campaign. Despite this impressive feat, he ended the year 82 points behind team-mate .

Standout performances weren’t hard to come by. Piastri notched his first two Grand Prix victories in 2024, the second of which came off the back of an outstanding defensive performance in Baku. However, he failed to score a single pole position and often lacked race pace relative to Norris.

According to the Australian, 2025 should be a different story. “I think so, yes,” Piastri told . “I’ve still got some learning and improving to do. I feel like now I’m getting to a stage where, on certain days, I feel like I have almost all the tools that I need.

“I’m just not putting them together as much as I want to, and I feel like last year I didn’t have all the tools that I needed. I had some of them, but I still was missing some.

“I feel like now this year, if I don’t have all of them, I certainly have a lot more – and whether that’s race pace, qualifying, racing other people, I feel like I’ve shown good moments of that, or even in some of those areas. I’ve just been generally very happy across the board.”

He continued: “Just putting it all together a bit more is, I think, what’s going to be needed. So now that you’re at the front, you get exposed for anything that you can’t do perfectly more than what you would being a bit further back in the pack. But I feel like I have all the tools I need. I just need to be able to deploy them all the time.”

More F1… [UPDATE] [COMMENT]

Piastri’s plans will make life difficult for Stella, who received a glimpse into the challenges that having two drivers with title aspirations can provoke during the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2024.

With ending 2025 in style and and receiving greater wind tunnel testing time as a result of their poorer Constructors’ Championship finishes, cannot afford to have Norris and Piastri take points off one another if they are to retain their crown this year.
