Pedestrian hit by SUV earlier this month has died: Vancouver police

The 85-year-old’s injuries weren’t initially thought to be life-threatening but he later died in hospital

An 85-year-old man who was hit by an SUV in a Vancouver intersection on Dec. 15 has died, and police continue to seek witnesses to the crash.

The collision happened at about 4:50 p.m. at Victoria Drive and East Broadway. As the pedestrian tried to cross Victoria on the north side, he was hit by a 2001 Toyota Sienna.

He was taken to hospital with injuries that weren’t initially thought to be life-threatening, but he later died in hospital.

The driver has been identified as an 83-year-old Vancouver woman.

Anyone who saw the crash, who was passing through the intersection between 4:40 and 5 p.m. that day, or who has relevant dashcam footage is asked to call the VPD collision investigation unit at 604-717-3012.
