British firm wants to convert your old Rolls into a 400-hp EV

Evice’s conversion, based on the overlooked Silver Shadow of the ’70s, is called the XP1, and set for first deliveries in 2026

  • British garage Evice is pivoting to a new mandate: converting old Rolls-Royces like the Silver Shadow into EVs
  • It’s still tooling up its first prototype “XP1,” which it aims to endow with 400 hp and 320 km of range
  • Mind the branding: the company’s lawyers kindly ask you don’t call it an “Evice Rolls-Royce”

Hove underneath the classic bodywork is a 77-kWh battery pack working in tandem with an 800-volt electrical architecture apparently developed by Evice, and not adopted from an existing vehicle. Electric motors – two, we’re assuming – deliver the aforementioned stable of horses, likely in a smooth and serene way totally befitting the original intent of this sedan when it rolled off the line in Crewe decades ago. The first deliveries of Evice’s “XP1” conversions are expected in 2026.

Perhaps this is why Evice makes the effort to point out it “does not manufacture or sell automobiles” before going on to explain it is not endorsed by Rolls or Bentley, washing its hands of trademarks and saying these bespoke vehicles “must not be described or marketed as an ‘Evice Rolls-Royce,’ ‘Evice Bentley,’ or by any name that implies an official affiliation with the original manufacturers.” Oh, to be a lawyer.
