Police say up to 25 guns, ‘significant’ amount of currency stolen from Chilliwack home

Police are also asking anyone who works in the currency exchange business to be “on the lookout” for anyone trying to exchange large amounts of Vietnamese currency.

A Chilliwack home was “ransacked” and up to 25 guns and a “significant” amount of currency was stolen over the holidays.

Chilliwack RCMP said they were called to a home in the 4000-block of Lyardon Road this week for a break and enter.

Investigators determined up to 25 firearms — many of them long guns — had been stolen from the home, along with a significant amount of Vietnamese dong. Police did not disclose the amount of currency taken or why the guns were located at the property. Investigators are still working to identify the exact make and model of the guns.

It’s believe the break-in took place between Christmas Day and Friday. Investigators also believe two vehicles may have been involved: a small white vehicle and a Ford diesel pickup truck.

Police are also asking anyone who works in the currency exchange business to be “on the lookout” for anyone trying to exchange large amounts of Vietnamese currency.

Anyone with information about the theft or who recognizes the vehicles or suspicious exchanges at local currency exchanges should contact Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 and quote file 24-55860.
