Keep floors ‘looking their best’ for guests with 2-item natural method that only costs 94p

With so much to consider, it’s easy to overlook important preparation steps to protect areas of your home including flooring from spills and scrapes.

With this in mind, luxury vinyl tile experts at have shared a money-saving tip for tackling any party-related accidents without spending a fortune.

Paul Brewster, an LVT specialist and CEO at Flooring Hut, shares tips to keep flooring when expecting guests.

He said: “Sweep or vacuum your floors before guests arrive to remove any dirt or debris. If you have time, mop or steam-clean hard floors, ensuring they’re dry before anyone arrives.

“Not only will this ensure your floor is clean and presentable for your guests, but it will also make the post-event cleanup much easier.”

But what can you do if one of your guests knocks over a glass or slops food on your floors?

Paul suggests using two natural ingredients which you will likely already have at home – and white vinegar.

He said: “A great tip for is to use baking soda and distilled vinegar, which costs only around £1. This is a really effective way to clean your flooring.

“If you have LVT flooring, try to avoid using abrasive substances like bleach as this can damage it.”

Baking soda and white vinegar can be bought online or from most local supermarkets.

Sainsbury’s Bicarbonate of Soda costs 59p while Tesco distilled vinegar costs 35p which means you can clean up any spillages for just 94p.

Paul concluded: “To keep your floors looking their best before, after and during a gathering, it’s essential to stay on top of regular cleaning.

“Simple routines like sweeping, vacuuming, and occasional mopping will help maintain their shine before and after guests arrive, while being on hand for quick spot-cleaning from spills during your event can prevent long-term damage or staining.”
