Two women killed in Milton Keynes on Christmas Day were named by Thames Valley Police on December 27 as Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24.

Despite formal identification having not yet taken place, police said they could confirm the identity of the victims.

Thames Valley Police also said in a statement: “We continue to support the families at this difficult time, and our thoughts are with them. The families would ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

Officers were called to a block of flats in Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, in Milton Keynes, at around 6.36 on December 25.

The two women died at the scene, while a teenage boy and a man, who were injured in a suspected stabbing, were rushed to hospital.

Initial reports added that a dog injured in the incident had also died, but it later emerged the animal had survived.

Police have since charged a 49-year-old man with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count each of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police had confirmed on Thursday that a murder investigation was underway and that the parties were “known to each other”.

Det Ch Insp Stuart Brangwin, of the major crime unit, said: “Firstly I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident.

“Members of the public will see a large police presence in the area while our investigation takes place. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach our officers and they will do their best to help.”
