Helen Worth has departed her role
In a heartfelt video posted on social media this evening, Helen, portraying Gail, expressed her gratitude: “Hello, all of you. It’s wonderful to have this opportunity to say, ta ta. It’s been a fabulous fifty years, and I just wanted to thank all of you, some of you who may have been watching for fifty years. Is there anybody? And those of you who’ve been watching for a few years. Thank you.
“Thanks for coming on the journey with me. I’ve had a wonderful time. I’ve loved it all. All the stories, and of course, working with the wonderful Platts, which, for me, is what it’s all about. And there’ll be more Platt stories, and I hope you’ll be watching.”
Helen Worth is bowing out of the soap after 50 years
Kate Brooks, the show’s producer, hinted at unexpected developments in the festive edition. She said: “The episode is set against Gail’s wedding, whether she goes through with that or not, I cannot tell anything. But this is a story with the Platts at the heart of it, it’s really festive, basically it’s a story about family and how secrets impact and implode on a family.
“So there’s a lot of betrayals, lots of secrets are exposed during this episode and it will be like classic with a bit of a twist. We want to make sure that we give glorious Gail the exit that she deserves.”
