Martin Lewis’ MSE has issued an urgent warning to Co-op customers, urging them to act before 2025.

The supermarket/corner shop store chain runs its own loyalty scheme, a bit like the Clubcard, Nectar Card and More Card, which offers exclusive prices and previously offered a points rewards balance for money off in-store.

But today, ’ warned that shoppers who use Co-op must check if they have any cash left on their rewards balance.

:

That’s because any unused amounts will expire at 11.59pm on Tuesday, December 31.

The scheme has more than five million members and used to give 2p in rewards for every £1 spent in store, which is effectively a 2% cashback to spend on future shops.

But Co-op announced earlier this year that points will no longer turn into cash rewards, and any that you built up must be spent by the end of 2024.

Instead, you get discounts on shopping and personalised offers but no money off vouchers.

Martin Lewis’ MSE announced: “If you’re a Co-op loyalty scheme member, check now if you have any cash left on your rewards balance, as any unused amounts will expire at 11.59pm on Tuesday 31 December.

“The supermarket chain’s loyalty scheme, which has five million members, used to let you earn 2p in rewards for every £1 spent on Co-op branded goods or services. These rewards could then be spent on future purchases at Co-op.

“However, as part of a shake-up announced earlier this year, you can no longer earn cash rewards – and any you’ve previously built up must be used by the end of the year.”

Other supermarkets also offer Christmas saver schemes, such as Asda and Morrisons, which need to be spent before Christmas but offer extra money towards in-store purchases.
