is the time to bring out all the decorations, eat plenty of food and celebrate the holiday season with loved ones.

Although Christmas is the most magical time of year for most, others have been open about their dislike for the festive season.

Colin Firth and Hugh Grant – two actors who starred in one of the most iconic Christmas films of all time – have both shared their hatred of the annual festive event.

Firth previously said the novelty jingles make him “homicidal”, while Grant admitted that Christmas is something he avoids celebrating.

Whether it’s a hatred for opening presents or being forced to watch Christmas movies, these celebrities simply loath this time of year.

Colin Firth has been open about his hatred for Christmas, although he hasn’t refrained from starring in a few festive films.

He appeared in the Christmas classic Love Actually alongside Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson and also played Ebeneezer Scrooge’s optimistic nephew Fred in the animated film A Christmas Carol.

But it appears the actor, 64, is the true Scrooge.

In a 2009 interview with the Daily Mail, ahead of the release of the film, he admitted he hates Christmas.

The Nanny McPhee star confessed: “I have a profound loathing of Christmas — it’s sad really.

“At this time of year, I am careful not to switch on the radio because these novelty jingles make me homicidal and plunge me into the heart of Scrooge territory.

“I think Christmas turns us all into Scrooge. Everyone is trying to throw happy stuff at you, and that’s when I come over all humbug.”

Ozzy Osbourne

Christmas is also not a time to celebrate for , with the singer more than happy to work through the festive period.

The Prince of Darkness previously said: “I’ve been saying to Sharon for ever, ‘Fuck Christmas, I hate it.’ It’s for shopaholics and kids and so I’ve always wanted to work through Christmas.”

The Crazy Train hitmaker, 76, admitted in December 2009 that he’s also not a fan of the consumerism behind Christmas.

“I have to unravel all these f–king presents. What a f–king waste of paper,” he told the Express at the time. “I f***ing hate Christmas. I f***ing hate it. Everything stops. When I used to drink, it was a good excuse to get f***ed. Now, I just hate it.”

Lady Gaga revealed she was never a fan of Christmas due to often feeling lonely around this time of year.

During a performance at London’s O2 arena in 2010, the Poker Face singer, 38, took her aggression out on the holiday season by biting the head of a Santa Claus plush toy before decapitating it with her shoe.

“I hate the holidays. I’m alone and miserable you f***ing stuffed little toy,” she said on stage at the time.

Despite starring in one of the most popular Christmas films ever made, Hugh Grant is far from passionate about celebrating the occasion.

In 2009, the actor revealed that he tries to avoid celebrating Christmas.

“The last few years, I have taken Dad to a Muslim country to escape it completely. We both hate Christmas,” he told the Mirror at the time,” he told The Mirror at the time.

And it appears the endless support of Love Actually hasn’t helped the cause as the 64-year-old pretty much admitted that he doesn’t enjoy it.

Appearing in an interview with his Wonka co-star Timothée Chalamet, Grant was asked what his reaction is if the hit classic comes on in his house.

“Well, um, I like Colin’s bits. Colin Firth’s story,” he said. “I skip through the rest of it, really.”

Another star who can rival Scrooge in their disdain for Christmas is Larry David.

“I’m a creature of habit and can’t tolerate anything that throws me off my normal routine,” the Seinfeld creator wrote in a December 2021 essay. “That’s why I detest all holidays, but none as much as Christmas.”

He went on to explain the holiday’s most offensive elements, saying: “There’s the loathsome music. The movies with their ridiculous, treacly sentiments. The presents—thinking about them, shopping for them (never without resentment), and the attendant pile of garbage that accumulates from opening them, an environmental disaster simultaneously taking place in living rooms across the country.”

In an alternative festive speech back in 2017, described what many consider the best time of year as a “f***ing stain on society”.

The Oasis singer, 57, doesn’t just dislike Christmas, he hates it “with a passion.”

He also believes Christmas features “too much food, too much ‘We Are The World”, before complaining about the relentless traditions including “the jumpers, the TV presenters, the s–t adverts, the f–king weather.”

There appeared to be a glimmer of hope when John Lewis put his song ‘Half The World Away’ into their annual festive advert, revealing he was open to giving it another chance.

But it’s safe to say it didn’t work.

“At that particular point I thought ‘Christmas, you know what, I’m going to give Christmas a second chance here’. I gave it a second chance, it was f***ing shit,” he confessed.

Christopher Waltz

Back in 2014, Christopher Waltz was asked what he would like for Christmas during an interview with .

However, the No Time to Die star’s response was far from festive. The Austrian actor admitted he wished Christmas didn’t exit.

“No Christmas. That’s my biggest wish, no Christmas,” he declared, explaining: “Because what I was talking about before comes to its unbearable peak over Christmas, and I’m against it. I’m against it even in milder forms, but at Christmas, it turns into mass hysteria”.
