has been handed another Saturday night slot for his third round showdown with Ian White at the World Darts Championship and will be looking to use the crowd’s energy to sweep to victory. The 17-year-old is the favourite to win the title after reaching the final last season in his maiden appearance.

Littler opened his 2025 World Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory over Ryan Meikle on Saturday as he hit a tournament record 140.91 set average in the final set.

But he was overcome with emotion after the victory and on the Alexandra Palace stage.

Littler’s title rival Luke Humphries, who got the better of the teenager in the showpiece match last time around, will play his second match of the tournament on Friday evening, almost a fortnight after playing his first.

Humphries will go head-to-head with Nick Kenny, who overcame five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld at the weekend.

The seeds have been falling quickly in north London, with No. 5 seed Rob Cross and No. 6 seed David Chisnall both exiting the event on Monday evening. Talented trio Michael Smith, Danny Noppert and Gary Anderson had all been dumped out over the weekend.

Express Sport will be on hand with all the latest news from Ally Pally as players enjoy their Christmas break. So follow our live blog below…

Evans turns on fans

Ricky Evans jokingly turned on fans at Alexandra Palace last night after he stunned No. 6 seed David Chisnall to progress to the third round.

The 34-year-old clinched victory after a final set shootout to set up a showdown with Robert Owen on Sunday evening.

During a hilarious post-match interview with Sky Sports, the star mimicked Shaun Williamson by breaking into song after the former star had appeared on the stage.

And turning his attention to the crowd, he teased: “I don’t get this b***** treatment in my household. Why are they cheering me on? I don’t understand it. ‘Ricky Evans, Ricky Evans.’ I kept telling them, ‘Shut up, shut up, I’m trying to win a game here.’”

Evans then ended the interview by shouting towards the crowd: “Merry Christmas, you weirdos.” And he then placed a red flannel on his head.

Littler given huge favour

Luke Littler has been given a huge favour after being scheduled to play on a Saturday evening for the second match in a row.

The 17-year-old will return to the Ally Pally stage to face Ian White this weekend, with the clash rounding off the action on Saturday.

By that point, the crowd will be lively and will surely get behind the blockbuster star in an attempt to spur him to victory.
