Rumours had swirled regarding her departure after she was temporarily replaced by Issa Schultz, a Chaser from the Australian version of the show, during a re-run of the primetime edition.
It was later explained that Schultz’s appearance was a temporary measure, as the brainiac had taken a brief hiatus due to health issues dating back three years when the episodes were originally filmed.

Anne reassured fans that she has no plans to leave the hit ITV programme. Taking to social media, she clarified her absence, stating: “I haven’t left, am not leaving, and wasn’t leaving when Issa had to stand in for me when I caught NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO.”

On the A Very Tall Man podcast, she discussed her interest in exploring roles beyond quizzing, revealing that a colleague from The Chase had penned a sitcom with a specific part for her.
Hegerty expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, “I’d love to be on a TV show or a film. One of them is the guy on The Chase, he’s written a sitcom with a part for me. It would be brilliant to get that made.”
