Television presenter Nicki Chapman, famed for her stints on ‘s Popstars and Pop Idol, has dropped a royal bombshell about Buckingham Palace.

In a candid confession to House Beautiful, Chapman revealed she’s dying to snoop around the most private rooms of and Windsor Castle.

“If I could have a snoop around anyone’s house, whose would it be and why? It would either be the private rooms at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace,” Chapman gushed.

“Going back in time to look around a stately home like Hampton Court would be fascinating,” she added, dreaming of a peek into the lives of the royals and aristocrats.

Chapman, 57, elaborated on her royal fixation, saying: “We don’t realise what it would be like to have an outside toilet or having to wash in a pail of water. I’d like to go back and look at houses over the centuries. But it would have to be the posh houses!”

Back in her current West London pad, which she shares with her husband Dave Shack, Chapman finds solace in her beautifully landscaped garden, re-designed by celebrity landscaper Mark Gregory. “It’s still looking pristine, but my husband has to take full credit for that,” she admits.

The TV star also spilled on her latest home improvement escapade—transforming their loft into a high-end wardrobe for her apparently vast coat collection. “I have more coats than anyone I know,” she confessed.

Chapman also shared a touching throwback to her childhood in Herne Bay, Kent, where she lived a seemingly Enid Blyton-esque life. “My favourite memory is growing up with my mum, dad, and sister in a 1970s new build house. We had a beach house and a dog, and it was just a beautiful time,” she reminisced.

Ahead of the holidays, the radio presenter revealed she loves to support local businesses and also works in her local charity shop.

“I try to shop locally on my high street to support people — it’s thriving and does really well. Look around you and try to buy independent using your feet, rather than always buying online.

“I work in my local charity shop and without our high street we will lose a huge part of our community. If you’ve got a local high street, use it.”

The former reality TV judge added: “You also don’t have to spend a fortune when it comes to homewares. We try every year to refresh one part of the house, but you don’t need to buy a brand new sofa, look for second hand.”
