Exact times Lidl, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons will slash prices before Christmas

Christmas Eve shopping isn’t for the weak, but with risk comes serious reward as it’s the best day to get a bargain, according to Voucher Codes.

Head at the right time, and you could bag your entire Christmas Day feast for a fraction of the price as supermarkets slash products by up to 75%. 

Here is the ultimate supermarket sweep so you can grab the best deals from each store, and piece together an epic festive feast. 

M&S

shuts at 4pm, so head here first on your supermarket sweep from 3pm when the best deals come out. 

Savings expert at Anita Naik say says: “If you can’t make it earlier, some M&S stores often apply last-minute reductions in the final 30 minutes before closing time. If you’re willing to risk it all, here is when you’ll find the mega bargains.”

Morrisons

While you’re raiding M&S, send a friend to which also starts reducing from 3pm before closing time at 4pm. According to Anita, Morrisons usually applies its first reductions as soon as stores open, saving the best markdowns for the evening.

Lidl 

Next head to , which usually brings out the yellow stickers in two waves – one around opening time at 8am, and once again around 5pm, leaving you one hour to raid the shelves before closing.

Aldi

similarly has two waves of markdowns, with the best around 5pm one hour before closing. However, there’s one key difference for eagle eyed shoppers.

Anita added: “Unlike Lidl, Aldi uses red stickers to highlight its discounted products. Red-sticker items are scattered across the store, so keep your eyes peeled. From meat to packaged goods, Aldi tends to mark down items by up to 75% on their final day of sale.”

Sainsbury’s

best deals start slightly later at 6pm, closing one hour later at 7pm. Anita revealed Sainsbury’s normally reduces items at around 2pm as well, but arriving at 6pm will give you the best bargains.

Tesco

If you still have the energy, the cheapest deals at also appear an hour before closing, which may be 6pm or 7pm depending on your local store.

According to Anita’s research, there’s a three wave yellow sticker system at around 10am, 2pm, and 7pm, but leave it until later to snap up the best deals.

Asda

finishes off the supermarket sweep as it’s open until 10pm, and the best deals start appearing from around 6pm.

Anita said: “On Christmas Eve, plan your shop for 6pm to catch the best deals, especially on fresh fruit and veg, which can drop as low as 10p.”
