Rhydian stressed: “As many head out for last-minute shopping before Christmas, crowded car parks and limited spaces might make drivers feel under pressure when trying to park.
“And with 16% of all fines in 2022 and 2023 issued in November and December, there’s a risk that even more drivers might face parking fines during this busy time.”
Data from Sensormatic Solutions, a global retail solutions firm, stressed that today (December 23) was likely to be among the busiest for stores across the UK.
Last year, it is believed that consumers spent around £4.89 billion between December 21 and 24.

The rush to get to the stores may mean motorists accidentally disobey parking restrictions or stop in a prohibited zone.
Road users may also accidentally forget to pay the parking charge altogether which will likely lead to fines later down the line.
In a move to prevent drivers from being caught out amid the festivities, Rhydian urges road users to “plan ahead” before setting off.
He said: “Check parking restrictions carefully: pay close attention to parking signs and road markings, especially in town centres where rules may vary depending on the time or day.
“Plan ahead: if possible, research parking options before heading out. Many shopping centres or town centres offer apps or websites that show real-time availability.
“Avoid risky spots: double-check that you’re not blocking driveways, parking in restricted bays, or leaving your car on yellow lines.”
