King Charles appeared in a Christmas special of BBC’s Countryfile
Royal fans were unimpressed after a TV host appeared to break royal protocol when he touched ‘s elbow during a of Countryfile on Sunday.
The King made a rare appearance in the festive programme, and showcased the work of The King’s Foundation’s education programmes.
Countryfile hosts Matt Baker, Margherita Taylor and Adam Henson met staff from Charles’s charity for the programme while the .
But during the festive special, which aired three days before Christmas, the TV presenter appeared to place his hand on the King’s elbow when he greeted him.
The gesture did not go down well with royal fans who went on social media to call him out on his “toe curling” gaffe.

One user wrote on X: “Can’t touch the king #countryfile.”

The King opened up his Highgrove estate
The Countryfile Christmas At Highgrove episode, head chef Luke Windebank said Charles is “quite protective” of the sprouts in his garden.
The programme also featured Henry-James Gay, who manages the King’s Duchy Home Farm and said that the monarchwalks around the farm quite regularly, and described his attention to detail as “second to none”.
The King attended the royal residence for the annual Crafts At Christmas event, where he was filmed being presented with creations from the Snowdon School of Furniture students. He was given a box of baubles created by students on a post-graduate furniture course and marvelled at the square ornaments they had carved from alder, oak and cedar.
