Ash Barty will be take part in a charity showcase at the Brisbane International
Ash Barty will get back on the court at the upcoming Brisbane International.
The former world No. 1 shocked the tennis world when she announced her sudden retirement in 2022, weeks after winning the .
Almost three years later, the Aussie fans will have a chance to see Barty in action again.
The three-time Grand Slam champion is set to headline a charity showcase at the Brisbane International Family Fun Day on December 29.
Playing on Pat Rafter Arena, Barty will be joined by Rafter himself and some ATP and WTA stars.
The 28-year-old founded the Ash Barty Foundation earlier this year and will use the event as an opportunity to engage with young fans. She is also the Brisbane International Ballkids Ambassador.
Ball kids at the event will wear her foundation’s logo on their uniforms. Barty will also present them with their heads ahead of the tournament.

Ahead of her outing in Brisbane, the former world No. 1 said: “I’m grateful to the Brisbane International team for providing me with an opportunity to raise awareness for the Ash Barty Foundation and to engage with young Australians throughout the tournament.
“I have been fortunate in terms of my journey but not all kids have that same experience. The Ash Barty Foundation’s goal is to provide more opportunities for boys and girls to discover what they love to do and to give them the ability to follow their dreams.
“I am incredibly proud of the work we have done so far, but it’s only the beginning.
“It will be a lot of fun to hit on the court with Pat Rafter and friends for the charity match and to meet many young tennis fans.”
Barty also appeared in Brisbane at the beginning of 2024, sitting in the stands with her mum Josie and her baby son Hayden, who has since celebrated his first birthday.
Her presence caused a stir, so there is no doubt fans will be delighted to see her on the court this time.
The Brisbane International has a stacked line-up. will , and will also make his comeback from a two-year injury layoff.
World No. 1 will be back to get her hands on the trophy after finishing as runner-up in 2024. Top-10 stars Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro and Daria Kasatkina will also be in action.
