Renowned Die Hard 2 actor Art Evans has passed away at 82, succumbing after a prolonged battle with diabetes, his agent disclosed.
Evans’ representative announced his death on December 21 due to diabetes, which he had “a condition he courageously managed for many years,” but no additional information was provided to Deadline.
He was commemorated by talent representatives LyNea Bell and Charleen McGuire as “a remarkable talent who touched many lives with his work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
Art’s wife, Babe, expressed her sorrow to USA Today: “Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend, and source of light to everyone who knew him. His laughter, passion, and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind.”
California native Art made his mark in A Soldier’s Story (1984) and rose to prominent fame in Die Hard 2 alongside Bruce Willis, portraying air traffic control worker Barnes.
His impressive career also featured roles in acclaimed TV series such as Walker, Texas Ranger and The X-Files, and he graced the silver screen in the 70s with Sisters and Amazing Grace, reports .

Tributes have poured in, including from screenwriter LaDarrion Williams who said: “I was so honored to be able to work with Art Evans on a play that I helped write. He was genuine and didn’t play when it came to the art of theatre. Rest easy, playa.”
Director Steve Hughes also paid homage to Art on his X page.
Renowned for his roles in Die Hard 2, Trespass, and Ruthless People, among many, one fan honoured him on social media: “RIP character actor Art Evans, 82, so good in Die Hard 2, Trespass, Ruthless People, Fright Night, A Soldier’s Story, CB4, Metro, and many more,” sharing a link to the sombre news of his demise.

Art achieved prominence with The Amen Corner on Broadway back in 1965. His first uncredited film role came in Claudine, 1974, but it wasn’t until two years later that he received his first credited part in Chico and the Man.
He was also acclaimed for his versatility in films such as Youngblood, The Cracker Factory and series like M*A*S*H and Monk.
Evans lent his voice for Disney+ with The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder marking his final artistic contribution.
His legacy lives on through his wife Babe, son Ogadae, and his rich tapestry of screen performances.
