Princess Kate finds one part of royal Christmas celebrations ‘weird’, according to one insider
The apparently wants to change a centuries-old tradition that she finds “weird” about royal Christmas.
Princess Kate wants to ditch the tradition of exchanging presents on Christmas Eve because she thinks it’s strange, with a source telling the Daily Beast: “She has always found the presents on Christmas Eve thing weird.”
The tradition has been standard practice for centuries within the Firm due to their German heritage, and was introduced by Queen Victoria and her German husband, Prince Albert in the 1800s.
It’s a practice Kate is eagerly desperate to ditch and move the family in line with the majority of the UK – but it’s bad news for her three children , 11 Princess Charlotte, 9 and six-year-old Louis – who would have to wait an extra day to open their presents as a result.
Queen Elizabeth reportedly loved this tradition, a source told the Daily Beast, because she ”disliked the extravagence and overt expressions of consumerism” and ”preferred Christmas day to have a sacred note”.

“You can bet your bottom dollar they will be doing proper presents for each other and the kids on Christmas Day.”
Royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: “I’d imagine there will be some flying lessons on the cards for George, maybe something to do with Taylor Swift for Charlotte, and anything adventurous for little Louis – he’s probably at an age when he will be wanting things like a skateboard.”
Princess Kate has had a busy month already, after hosting her annual Christmas concert on December 6, which was particularly poignant after she invited families of the Southport stabbings to attend.
Back in September, the brave mum-of-three confirmed that her preventative chemotherapy has come to an end after she was diagnoses with an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this year.

Speaking of the difficult nine months, the 42-year-old said: “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.
“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before and with that, a new perspective on everything.
“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.
“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
