Egypt’s Cairo International Airport is on course to retain its spot as Africa’s busiest airport in 2023, reports .
The airport chartered 309 flights a day in 2022, says .
The boasts passenger traffic of around 20 million, says Airports Council International (ACI).
Data from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry shows that in 2023, it processed more than 26 million passengers.

In second spot is the OR Tambo International Airport in Gauteng Province which came second in , processing nearly 14.8 million passengers in total.
Cape Town International came third, processing nearly 7.9 million passengers.
In fourth place is a Moroccan airport – Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, with 7.6 million passengers in 2022.
Earning a place in the top five, Hurghada International in Egypt processed nearly 7.2 million passengers to take the fifth spot.
In its report, the ACI said: “All the top ten airports in terms of total passengers represented 50% of overall passenger traffic in Africa in 2022.”
