Rory McIlroy beat Bryson DeChambeau on a course with a dolphin’s grave and £980 green fee

teamed up with as the duo defeated pair Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in The Showdown on Tuesday. And the golf encounter was played that has a green fee of almost £1,000 and includes a dolphin grave.

McIlroy and Scheffler were in sublime form at the Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas as they dominated the 18-hole Ryder Cup-style event.

The players even wore microphones for the benefit of television viewers, with the PGA stars securing the win with two holes remaining.

The Shadow Creek course opened in 1989 and was initially operated as the private club of real estate developer Steve Wynn. And, according to , Wynn buried his beloved dolphin in front of the 17th tee.

Wynn, who is now 82, is thought to be worth almost £3billion after making his money in the casino and hotel industries.

He used to own a dolphin pool at his Mirage resort after falling in love with the animals during a trip to Hawaii.

Golf enthusiasts are able to enjoy a round at the Shadow Creek course but will have to stump up plenty of cash for the privilege as it costs £980 to play there, according to .

The green fee is the highest in the USA, with golfers only able to book a round if they are staying at an MGM resort.

A List celebrities could get a round at the course, while the venue hosts charity tournaments every year.

The green fee will also afford players the luxury of riding in a limousine as that is the way resort guests are taken to the clubhouse. And players will be well looked after as the golf club is well known for its incredible food, drink and service.

With top-tier wealth apparently needed to enjoy the course on a regular basis, it’s no surprise that McIlroy and Scheffler received an £8million cryptocurrency purse after their victory on Tuesday.

And commenting on the prize, the American exclaimed: “You know, I don’t know a whole lot about crypto, but this is some good motivation to do some research and figure out what is going on.”

Meanwhile, McIlroy said of the victory: “We’re super happy to get the win. It’s a nice way to finish the year. Scottie and I got off to a pretty good start and then from there it was just about trying to keep the momentum.”
