It may seem too easy, but dishwasher tablets contain enzymes and surfactants that can break down grease and proteins in tough food stains on dishes.

This is what makes it incredibly effective at cleaning both the glass door of an oven as well as the inside racks and trays.

Vinegar and baking soda are other items in the kitchen which can also be used to naturally get rid of some grease stains but it is not a very strong solution and will not work for heavy baked-on grease.

Dishwasher tablets are powerful enough to cut through grease that has been inside the oven for a long time and are abrasive so you will not have to spend ages scrubbing stains.

How to use dishwasher tablets to clean an oven

To clean the outside:

Slightly dip a dishwasher tablet in a bowl of warm water and simply rub it all over the surface of your oven door.

You do not have to apply lots of pressure or spend a long time rubbing the surface as the dishwasher tablet should begin to work immediately.

To clean the inside:

All you need to do is put on a pair of rubber gloves and individually wrap each of your oven racks in tin foil.

Place a towel at the bottom of your sink to cover the plug and add the wrapped-up trays to your sink.

Add a dishwasher tablet on top of each wrapped-up item and then fill the sink with hot water.

Leave the racks to soak for a least two hours, but for best results, leave them overnight.

Once the time is up, drain the water, unwrap everything and rinse the trays with clean warm water and should now be completely cleaned.
