Grammy-winning singer Joss Stone and her family have extra reason to celebrate this holiday season. Just two weeks after she and husband Cody DaLuz announced that they had adopted a baby boy, Stone revealed that she was pregnant with her third biological child.
“Shocked was an understatement,” the 37-year-old “Right to Be Wrong” singer wrote on Instagram posted Dec. 19 along with a video of images of her staring at a positive pregnancy test.
“Nothing and no one can take our joy now. We are so chuffed!!!!”
Stone, who gave birth to 3-year-old Violet and 2-year-old Shackleton, shared in a Dec. 2 Instagram reel that she and DaLuz had been “trying to adopt for a little while now” along with audio of the phone call that shared they “could pick up the baby tomorrow.” The reel shows Stone and her DaLuz’s early interactions with baby Bear, who was born 11 weeks premature. After spending 36 days in the hospital, Bear graduated from the NICU and settled in with the family just before Thanksgiving.
Along with the video, Stone wrote about her husband’s own adoption story.
“We are in love big time with this little guy. The reason why Cody even exists is because his bio mum loved him enough to make an adoption plan for him and the same goes for Bear,” she wrote of her husband and son, respectively. “Honestly bio mothers do not get the gratitude they deserve. It is a more selfless love than I knew existed. Truly. We are just so happy to be part of this beautiful cycle.”
In a Dec. 9 Instagram video, Stone discussed her criteria for naming her children: for boys, she likes a name that is “strong but also friendly;” for girls, she likes a name that’s “strong and beautiful.”
For example, she said that she liked the name Violet for her daughter because “it sounds a bit like ‘violent’ so it’s got a little sting to it, which I think every woman should have.”
