Tyson Fury is about to receive a colossal £28million tax bill on of his earnings immediately following his anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.
The Gypsy King was on the losing side in their first encounter back in May, missing the chance to become boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.
Usyk had to relinquish the IBF title after he chose the Fury rematch over meeting the demands to take on Daniel Dubois. Both fighters are eyeing hefty sums for their second dance, with Fury itching for it to lead to a trilogy culmination.
Buzz around the fight suggests that Tyson could bag a cool £60m purse. Yet the taxman will take away almost half straight off the bat. JeffBet’s calculations suggest that £26,986,203 will be Fury’s income tax contributions, and another £1,202,010.60 goes towards national insurance, bolstering the NHS and pensions, leaving him with £31,811,786.40 net income.
