The latest maps show a 90% chance of Arctic showers across almost all of the UK over the weekend.
generated by WX Charts show a high probability of snow falling in Scotland, Northern England and much of Wales on Sunday (December 22).
According to WX Charts, the probability drops to 80% in parts of the Midlands, to 60% in East Anglia, and to 20% to 30% in the south of England.
It will also feel colder, with another map from WX Charts showing a wind chill several degrees below freezing across much of the UK on the same date.
The maps come as the . It says there will be a brief cold snap on Sunday.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Hicks said an area of low pressure will bring rain and strong winds on Saturday, with a chance of “significant” disruption, especially to transport networks across the north, including the potential for ferry cancellations.

According to the , coastal parts of northern Scotland could see gusts of up to 85mph on Saturday, with strong winds becoming more widespread on Sunday, when gusts could reach 50-60mph.
The ‘s current five-day forecast doesn’t include snow but does say there will be wintry showers or longer spells of rain in its outlook for Sunday to Tuesday.
According to the , winds will ease at the start of next week, but more rain or drizzle will move east across the country on Monday night.
The said: “Christmas Eve will be a mild, blustery day with further rain or drizzle at times in the west and the best chance of sunny spells in the east.”
It added: “Christmas Day itself is likely to be settled, mostly cloudy and dry, although strong winds and spells of rain are likely in the far north.
“Temperatures are expected to be widely very mild, with the chance of settling snow looking slim.”

A band of rain will move southeastwards through Friday, turning brighter but showery behind in the west. Showers are forecast to ease in the evening. There will be fresh winds with temperatures turning milder again.
Tonight, rain will clear the southeast with clear spells and a few showers in the north and west. More rain looks set to spread southeast through the early hours, with gales likely in the northwest.
Saturday will be increasingly windy for everyone, with severe gales in the northwest. Rain will clear to the southeast, leaving sunny spells and blustery showers behind. It will often be wintry in hilly areas, and it will feel much colder.
The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday is for it to remain windy through Sunday with gale-force winds in the north, although these will ease into Monday. There will be wintry showers or longer spells of rain at times, and it will be cold to start but get milder later.
