Heavy snowfall in areas of the UK is expected this weekend.
A raft of UK cities are set for snow this weekend, with light flurries arriving as far as south of Birmingham and as far north as the town of Wick in the north of Scotland, according to WX Charts.
The forecaster predicts that snowfall will start in the Scottish Highlands and Inverness around Saturday lunchtime and move south towards Edinburgh and Glasgow.
By Saturday evening, snow is expected to have started falling, albeit lightly, in northern England. Meanwhile, Belfast may be blanketed as Saturday night becomes Sunday morning. Wales, too, will be largely covered in snow.
However, on Sunday, the country gets more than a touch of frost.
Wales, the Midlands, and parts of East Anglia may see snow on Sunday
Manchester and Liverpool in the north-west of England; Wrexham, Cardiff, and Swansea in Wales; Birmingham in the Midlands; Bristol in the West Country; Cambridge in eastern England; and even the capital, London, may see snow on December 22.
All the while, swathes of Scotland will continue to see flurries, especially in the west.
By late Sunday night, the snowfall will largely have subsided, with the exception of the northern tip of Scotland. According to WX Charts, the depth of the snow will be deepest in Scotland. England and Wales may see snow, but it will be a dusting.
