Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne has suffered a head injury
s Mathew Horne has suffered a head injury during a live performance. The actor, famed for his role as Gavin in the beloved series, was involved in an on-stage accident at the West End.
Horne, who is currently appearing in The Tempest at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, sustained the injury just ten minutes into Tuesday night’s show, prompting an urgent medical response.
He struck his forehead on a stage prop, leading to a 15-minute pause in the production while he received attention.
Despite the mishap, Horne returned to the stage with a visible red mark on his face, much to the concern of the audience. A spectator said to The Sun: “Mathew’s forehead had a big, red mark on it and it looked pretty painful, even from far away in the theatre. He was clearly in pain so they stopped the show as a precautionary measure to give him a once-over.”
The show resumed after a brief intermission, with Horne continuing his performance, albeit with a sore-looking forehead. The audience member praised his determination, labelling him a “real trooper” for carrying on, reports .

Gavin and Stacey will be returning for one last episode on Christmas Day
Fans of Gavin and Stacey are eagerly anticipating the return of their favourite characters this Christmas Day.
Gavin and Stacey enthusiasts are bracing for a wave of emotion as Ruth Jones and James Corden have announced that the beloved show will not return.
The upcoming special episode promises to reveal the aftermath of Nessa’s (played by Jones) cliffhanger proposal to Smithy (portrayed by Corden), leaving fans hanging since the episode aired five years prior.
Mathew Horne, who plays Gavin, expressed his anticipation: “I want to say I was nervous about reading the script, as it’s always been Ruth’s (Jones) and James’s (Corden) priority to get the script perfect in the first instance, to tell a story the right way. And I had no evidence to suggest that this final script wouldn’t adhere to those principles and be anything other than brilliant. I did have a nervous compulsion to read it immediately and my expectations were exceeded. It made me laugh, it made me cry and upon completion, I thought it was nothing short of a masterpiece. Not just in terms of an episode of Gavin And Stacey, but frankly any script I’ve ever read.”
