BBC Escape to the Country host faces major challenge as couple ‘worried’ over dream home

Escape to the Country host Nicki Chapman had a huge challenge on her hands as two buyers feared for their ‘dream property’.

During Tuesday’s (December 17) episode of the hit show, Nicki was on hand to help a couple make a big move from Southampton Hampshire and find their dream home in the Cairngorms.

The pressure was on for Nicki as the couple sold their previous home and have been living in a campervan for the past two years after making a major decision to travel the world in their motorhome.

Retired police officers Kath and Sue, who have had a healthy budget of £550,000 for a detached property in a rural location, with at least two bedrooms, lots of parking for their motorhome, a large kitchen and a garage and workshop for Kath’s plans to convert another van.

They also said it was important that the property was close to country tails as Sue is a keen runner, meanwhile it was all about the views for Kath as she admitted that she loves the mountains. She also revealed her new hobby of wild swimming so a river close by would be ideal.

Nicki admitted: “I’ve got my work cut out” as she set up a number of property viewers and after a long week it was one home, located in the rural outskirts of the small Highland village of Nethy Bridge, that left the couple speechless as they claimed it was their “dream house”.

The property was on the market for £525,000 and had a large kitchen, open plan living areas and three double bedrooms. There was also an entire wing of garage workshop and shore. The home also came with incredible viewers.

After touring the property the pair instantly fell in love and insisted that they wanted to put an offer in however Kath was worried it would be snatched off the market fairly quickly.

Sue started off by saying: “As soon as we walked into the kitchen, Kath and I looked at each other and sort of knew.”

Kath jumped in and continued: “My wish list was not possible and you’ve found us the impossible. Even a pit in the garage so we can get under the car. I’m just lost for words but I’m starting to feel a bit worried now because I really want it and I don’t want to lose it.”

In the end, Nicki revealed that the couple went back to the mystery house for a second viewing and decided to go ahead with putting down their offer. They were left delighted as it got accepted.
